Something to think about – We got this for security – and use it every so often. It works as promised, and makes a moderately loud noise if the door is moved/opened enough to trigger the mechanism. I am not sure about how much it adds to our home’s security, as the same action on the door will trigger the alarm that is wired to alert the alarm company and sets off a very loud alarm in the house itself. This may be best for someone who does not have a centrally monitored alarm. One other advantage is that it strengthens the door by making it very difficult to open from outside. So, a burglar would have to basically break the door open – hopefully making it one step more difficult to get it.

US Patrol alarm security bar - Solid product. My only complaint is the alarm is not loud enough. The barking dog is not realistic at all. Good for an apartment but it’s a little difficult to hear in a two story house. Also drains the battery really fast (less than two weeks).
Does make me more secure at night knowing that it’s up against the front door.
